Small Group Photography Workshops
For more than a decade, I've been leading photographers to some of the places that continue to inspire me most—from the wildlife of Africa and deserts of Namibia to Mongolia's Altai Mountains.
My workshops are built around small groups, great photographic opportunities and one simple philosophy: your photos come first.
Photography Has Taken Me Around the World. Now I Help Others Experience It
I began leading photography workshops in 2013. Since then, I've spent much of my life travelling with photographers—returning to places I know well, building relationships with local guides and communities, and learning what separates a good photography trip from a great one.
For me, a workshop isn't about rushing from one famous location to another. It's about being in the right place when the light, wildlife or moment comes together—and having enough time and space to make something of it.
When I'm leading a workshop, I'm there to help you. We'll work on camera settings, composition, understanding light, anticipating wildlife behaviour and post-processing. Sometimes that means my own camera stays in the bag.
Because when you're travelling with me, your photos are more important than mine.
What I've Learned From Leading Photography Workshops
Great locations matter. But I've learned that the way a photography workshop is designed matters just as much.
Small groups give photographers room to work. Good local guides put us in better positions. Scouting helps us understand when locations are at their best. And a workshop leader should be watching what the guests need—not worrying about building their own portfolio.
Those ideas have shaped the way I lead workshops today.

The Photography Workshops I Lead Through Akari Photo Tours
Today, the photography workshops I lead are operated through Akari Photo Tours, the company I co-founded to create small-group photography experiences around the world.
Akari handles the complete workshop experience—from itineraries and accommodations to local guides and logistics—while allowing me to concentrate on what I enjoy most: helping photographers make better images and experience remarkable places.
